En Garde! Calling all pirates, musketeers, and Jedi – come participate in Beginner Fencing Camp at Sidwell Summer! Led by the father-son team of Vladimir and Vitali Nazlymov, this camp is an extraordinary opportunity for 2nd – 5th graders to explore Fencing: a sport full of history, intellect and athleticism. Fencers will gain knowledge of basic fencing skills as well as valuable life skills such as creative problem-solving, confidence, and discipline. Under the supervision of Vladimir Nazlymov, Olympic gold medalist, the coaching staff will consist of instructors with decades of experience teaching fencing classes at schools in the DC area.

New for Summer 2019: Sidwell Summer in partnership with Nazlymov Fencing Foundation is offering an Intermediate Fencing session for fencers in grades 2-5 with at least one year of experience. This is in ideal program for students who were introduced to fencing via after-school Fencing classes or who train regularly at area fencing clubs. The program will be taught by Vladimir Nazlymov, 3-time Olympic Champion and former Ohio State Head Coach of Varsity Fencing, 3-time NCAA Champions. Students must have their own equipment (sabre, mask, glove, jacket). Equipment rental can be arranged at a cost of $50 per week. The program is designed to teach coordination, discipline, and sportsmanship through fencing drills and games. The camp is geared towards students who want to take their basic fencing knowledge to the next level.
