Tracks and Fields: Career Exploration (Grades 10-12)
1 week sessions 9:00am - 12:00pm; 9:00am - 4:00pm $400-$600

Tracks and Fields is an exploration of how talents, interests, and motivations can translate into a career. Participants will have the unique opportunity to hear from inspiring leaders effecting positive change in a variety of fields, with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. These speakers will share their stories, their successes, their challenges, and their reflections, with regard to their professional paths.
The participants (high school students in rising grades 10-12) will get to ask questions of the speakers, give thought to their own dreams and ambitions, and gain a broader understanding of what a career can look like. Each week will be themed around a given field; speakers will be professionals with a variety of paths within that field. Each day will include hands-on activities and exercises; each week will include a visit to a thematically relevant workplace (for touring, observation, and service work). Through discussion and collaboration, reflection and inspiration, participants will leave the Tracks and Fields program with an expanded sense of their “action plan for the future.”
The morning workshops offer participants an intimate opportunity to meet with the guest professionals from the specific fields, hear about their career tracks, ask questions, and discover new facets and depths to these opportunities. Through the presentations, reflection time, and small group discussions, participants will develop a deeper understanding of the career field, brainstorm potential futures therein, and gain exposure to new ideas and networks.
The afternoon component of the day, for those who elect to stay, provides a format to deep dive into the weekly career field theme via workplace visits, hands-on activities, and projects. The Tracks and Fields Coordinator will lead participants through on and off campus experiences and exercises, expanding upon the morning’s presentations through real-world exploration.
