2026 Employment Opportunities

We’re gearing up for summer 2026 and building our Sidwell Summer team is an important step!

Hiring happens on a rolling basis throughout the winter and spring until all positions are filled. All available positions will be posted in the on staff application portal. Individuals must be available for at least 6-weeks between June 8 - August 14 to be considered for employment; specific dates required for some programs.

Summer staff are selected after a thorough and thoughtful process that includes:

  • Completion of the Staff Application: Complete the online application using the button above. All available positions will be listed in the application. We look forward to getting to know you through your application, so take your time and share your best with us.

  • Interview: Sidwell Summer will reach out to schedule an interview with those applicants who submit a completed application, indicate availability, and meet our criteria for available positions.

  • Reference Checks: Applicants will be required to submit 3 references from work and/or school who can attest to their qualifications and character.

  • State & National Background Checks: We will conduct DC or Maryland fingerprinting, as well as FBI fingerprint on campus as the final hiring step.

Positions for Individuals Age 16+

We are looking for flexible, motivated, and energetic individuals to join our team as Camp Counselors in a fun and exciting camp environment!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers/coaches with managing campers in a dynamic and enriching setting.

  • Actively engage with campers throughout the day, ensuring a hands-on and enjoyable experience.

  • Foster group bonding and create memorable experiences for all campers.

  • Build positive and caring relationships among campers and staff.

  • Support daily activities and promote a safe, inclusive camp environment.

Qualifications:

  • Interest in working with children and assisting with camp activities.

  • Experience in camps, schools, or similar settings is preferred but not required.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Enthusiasm for creating a fun and supportive environment for campers.

    Counselor Positions: individuals must be available for at least 6-weeks.

Positions for Individuals Age 21+

We are seeking flexible, motivated, and energetic individuals to join our team as Teachers/Coaches in a dynamic and enriching camp environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a group of campers through daily activities in a fun, active setting.

  • Engage with campers throughout the day, fostering a positive and hands-on experience.

  • Create an exciting and enriching camp atmosphere that promotes learning and growth.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children in a camp, school, or similar setting is required.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Enthusiasm for creating memorable experiences for campers.

    Teacher/Coach/Admin Positions: individuals must be available for at least 6-weeks.

*Nurse – Oversee medical care for 300+ campers per week, including medication administration, basic first aid, and record keeping. Requires a current DC Nursing license, CPR/First Aid certification, and strong communication and organizational skills. Experience with children preferred.

Various dates/weeks between June 8– August 14, 8:15 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday- Friday
