Play-Well TEKnologies utilizes expert instructors and thousands of LEGO® to build problem-solving skills, to provide an opportunity for creative expression, and to foster a greater appreciation of how things work.  In the context of fun-filled engineering and architectural projects, Play-Well encourages inquisitiveness, self-reliance, and self-confidence in our campers! Our summer ‘engineers’ will have access to over 100,000 pieces of LEGO®!

Campers dive into massive collections of LEGO® to build elaborate objects, structures and vehicles. Campers explore the fundamental principles of engineering and physics while learning to collaborate and create without fear of mistakes. With Play-Well TEKnologies, your camper will grow and learn through exploration and imagination! Play-Well TEKnologies gives campers the incredible opportunity to create, build, learn, engineer, and architect with the instruction and inspiration from specially trained teachers.

LEGO® Weekly Theme Descriptions

Adventures in STEM with LEGO® Materials (K-1): Ratchet up your imagination with tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Build engineer-designed projects such as Motorcycles, Castles, Airplanes, and Monorails. Then use special pieces to create your own unique design! New and returning students can explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor. There are no prerequisites for this course.

STEM Explorations with LEGO® Materials (2-5): Level up your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as Belt-Drive Cars, Truss Bridges, Rail Racers, and Pneumatic Forklifts! Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment. There are no prerequisites for this course.

Robotics using the LEGO® WeDo® System (2-3): Build and program robots in this introductory Robotics class using the LEGO® WeDo® system. Learn basic programming skills, simple engineering concepts, and the names of robot components.  Work in small groups to complete several projects using tilt and motion sensors.  This is a great way to prepare young Robotics enthusiasts for our more advanced Robotics programs.

Robotics using the LEGO® EV3 System (4-5): Build and program robots using the LEGO® Mindstorms® EV3 system! Learn about mechanical and software design, loops, conditional statements, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Work in small groups, program and build your robot, and rise to the challenge. Control the robot to avoid obstacles, pick up and carry objects, and play sounds. Projects are structured so that students work in an open-ended, investigative environment while having fun.

Harry Potter Magical Engineering with LEGO® Materials (K-1): Explore the magic of Harry Potter using LEGO®!
