Counselor In Training - CIT (Grades 9-10)
2 week sessions 8:30am - 3:15pm $650-$685
The Counselor In Training (CIT) Program is a hands-on leadership program designed for high school students looking to gain professional experiences through working with young children and adults. The CITs are under the mentorship of dedicated staff as they progress through the program. CITs will be able to experience, first-hand, the roles and responsibilities of acting as a counselor for campers. Additionally, they will participate in weekly seminars that will serve as a foundation for working in a camp and professional environment.
Discovery Day Camp CIT
The Discovery Day Camp Counselor In Training (CIT) Program is a 2-weeks hands-on leadership program that provides participants leadership experience through working with campers and staff in our day camp.. CITs will work with coaches and counselors to learn the ins and outs of working at camp. They will be able to experience, first hand, the role and responsibilities of working as a counselor in a camp setting: preparing activities, greeting campers and families in carpool, engaging campers in age appropriate games and activites, and much more! Becoming a CIT is an excellent opportunity for individuals to learn leadership skills, build resume experience, and grow their communication abilities in a safe and supportive summer camp experience.
Sports Camp CIT
The Sports Counselor In Training (CIT) Program is a 2-weeks hands-on leadership program that provides participants leadership experience through working with campers and staff in our Soccer and Tennis programs. The CITs will work with coaches and counselors to learn the ins and outs of working at camp. They will be able to experience, first hand, the role and responsibilities of working as a counselor in a camp setting: preparing the courts and fields, greeting campers and families in carpool, engaging campers in age appropriate drills and games, and much more! Becoming a CIT is an excellent opportunity for individuals to learn leadership skills, build resume experience, and grow their communication abilities in a safe and supportive summer camp experience.
The Handwork Studio CIT
The Handwork Studio takes no greater joy than seeing campers grow from curious, creative students to passionate, driven young adults, and our Counselor In Training (CIT) Leadership Program at Sidwell Friends is designed to teach 14-16-year-olds the flip side of our programming... teaching!
Becoming a CIT is an excellent opportunity for past campers or future innovators to learn leadership skills, build resume experience, and advance handwork techniques alongside our professional staff.
CITs will develop skills by:
● Assisting Lead and Assistant Counselors with teaching curriculum
● Participating in camp activities with Lead and Assistant Counselors
● Demonstrating positive communication with campers and counselors
● Knowing and demonstrating ‘The Handwork Studio’ culture
● Further advancing their handwork skills
● Working as a team
● Problem-solving creatively
● Gaining and providing feedback on progress
